Wizards are a powerful class inBaldur’s Gate 3. Compared to other classes, they have the largest pool of magic available. With an extensive knowledge of the arcane and a forceful spell arsenal, they rely on their magical abilities in combat. Various weapons can increase those magical abilities.
While they never deal a ton of damage in melee combat, there are weapons that this class will find useful. Proficient in quarterstaves, wizards will find plenty of compatible weapons to heighten their power as they travel the long road to Baldur’s Gate. This list includes the best weapons for wizards in Baldur’s Gate 3.

11Staff Of Crones
The Staff of Crones is found in Act 1 when exploring Auntie Ethel’s home. This weapon grants your wizard a Level 1 Necromancy spell, Ray of Sickness, once every Short Rest.
This spell deals Poison Damage on the target. When poisoned, enemies have Disadvantage on Attack Rolls and Ability Checks. Combined with other items granting poison abilities, this staff is a great addition to your arsenal early in the game.

For increased damage, use this weapon while wearing the Poisoner’s Robe, also found in Act 1.
10Melf’s First Staff
Melf’s First Staffis a great weapon for wizards earlier in the game. The quarterstaff is located in the Underdark during Act 1. Providing the Melf’s Acid Arrow spell once every Long Rest, this staff splashes Acid Damage on foes during combat.
As wizards have limited spell slots, this weapon gives an extra damage spell without expending a valuable slot. While similar to the Staff of Crones, Melf’s First Staff also provides a +1 bonus to Spell Save DC.

9Mourning Frost
Mourning Frostis a very rare Quarterstaff which makes your wizard’s cold spells more powerful. This staff is well-hidden in Act 1, requiring some searching andcrafting to wield.
This staff increases your Cold Damage by one and provides the Ray of Frost cantrip. With the addition of the Insidious Cold effect, your wizard can inflict Chilled on your target with each cold attack. This is a great weapon if you’re focusing on crowd control.

This staff is assembled from three pieces found on Drow mages in Underdark during Act 1.
8Creation’s Echo
Creation’s Echois a quarterstaff you may find in the Underdark during Act 1. This staff grants your wizard resistance to one type of damage. When dealing Acid, Fire, Radiant, Lighting, or Necrotic Damage, you become resistant to that specific type for two turns.
This is useful when facing enemies that deal a specific type of damage. If they hit you with a fire spell, retaliate with Fire Bolt. This makes you temporarily resistant to Fire Damage they are dishing out.

7Staff Of The Emperor
The Staff of the Emperor is a rare quarterstaff, wielded by the Emperor himself. It provides your wizard with Arcane Enchantment, which adds +1 to Spell Save DC and Attack Rolls. In addition, you will receive Imperial Retaliation, which allows you to potentially stun enemy spellcasters.
Not available until later in the game, this weapon is a bit more difficult to obtain than the others, as you have a small window of opportunity to disarm the Emperor and grab it.

6The Spellsparkler
The Spellsparkleris a rare Quarterstaff you can use to deal extra Lightning Damage. Acquired in Act 1, this staff has a special feature, Electric Veins, granting the wielder two Lightning Charges each time they attack an enemy on the battlefield.
These attacks are stackable so your wizard never loses their charge, making you an extra dangerous dealer of Lightning Damage whenever you attack with a spell or cantrip.

This weapon is given as an optional reward after saving Councilor Florrick from the burning building in Act 1. Choose the staff if you want this weapon for your wizard.
5Staff Of Cherished Necromancy
The Staff of Cherished Necromancy is a very rare Quarterstaff. Found during Act 3, this weapon significantly enhances necromantic abilities with the +2 enchantment and other features.
Through Heightened Necromancy, creatures impacted by your necromancy spells have Disadvantage on Saving Throws. The Life Harvest ability allows your wizard to absorb the energy of defeated enemies and retain the Life Essence until their next Long Rest. For obvious reasons, this weapon is thebest option for necromancers.

4Incandescent Staff
TheIncandescent Staffis a very rare Quarterstaff focusing on the element of fire. Found in Act 2, it provides the wielder with the spell, Fireball,and the cantrip, Fire Bolt, allowing them to deal extra Fire Damage in combat. With Fire Ball once per Long Rest, this is a desired item for spellcasters.
In addition, this staff provides your wizard with resistance to Fire Damage, making them a dangerous opponent to fire-wielding foes.

Combine this weapon with the Hellfire Hand Crossbow to heighten your Fire Damage.
3Staff Of Spellpower
TheStaff of Spellpoweris a very rare Quarterstaff found in Act 3. It gives your wizard +1 to their Spell Saves and Attack Rolls. In addition, you gain Arcane Battery, an ability you’re able to use once per Long Rest to cast a spell without expending a spell slot.
Saving spell slots is critical later in the game, especially when you don’t want to waste any precious, Level 6 spells.Markoheshkirhas similar abilities, but if you don’t possess that weapon yet, this is a great option.

2Woe
Woe is one of the best weapons for wizards in Baldur’s Gate 3. The quarterstaff provides a +1 bonus to Spell Save DC and spell Attack Rolls, as well as other features that benefit spellcasters.
Arcane Vampirism, unique to this weapon, heals you when your enemy fails a Saving Throw. In addition, you gain the Blight spell once per Long Rest, dealing extra necrotic damage to your enemies. As a Bound Weapon, it cannot be knocked out of your hand in a disarming attempt.
