Summary
The Libertad faction inXDefiantis the premiere support faction. Specializing in healing themselves and their teammates both actively and passively, the Libertad are a rallying point for their team when sticking near objectives.
On a well-coordinated team, a good Libertad can be the difference between a win and a loss. On a team without cohesion, a Libertad is likely going to make little difference. Here are ten tips for getting the most out of Libertad in XDefiant:

10Stick Near Teammates
Your Abilities All Have A Certain Radius
It’s not that you need to be attached at the hip or anything, but if you stick close enough to teammates that you can toss them a heal when they need it (or they can get close enough to you to grab a heal when you’re healing yourself), everyone is going to appreciate you for it.
Even when you aren’t using an ability, Libertad passively heals you and nearby allies. While it certainly doesn’t do so quickly, it’ll add another few milliseconds to the time it takes to put you or a teammate down, and that is often the difference between winning the fight and respawning.

9El Remedio Needs Cover
Don’t Just Throw This Thing Anywhere
The El Remedio ability for Libertad tosses a device down that heals you and allies inside a certain radius. This is a fantastic ability in the right situation, but poor placement can render it entirely useless, either because allies cannot safely be near enough to use it, or because enemies can just shoot it a couple of times to destroy it.
Toss this thing behind a small section of cover or at an elevation where an enemy can’t get a sight line on it, and you’re going to get a lot more healing from it than if you’d haphazardly thrown it into the fight.

8Medico Supremo Needs People
Without Teammates Around, Medico Supremo Isn’t Very Good
Similar to how El Remedio works, Medico Supremo, Libertad’s Ultra, has a certain radius of effectiveness as well; the Ultra continuously heals allies and gives them a kind of overshield, allowing them to take much more damage than they otherwise would.
This Ultra can effectively act as a finishing move in an Escort match if used well and is one of the best in the game. That said, it can also be completely and utterly wasted if placed poorly, so make sure you have teammates around and that a fight is either underway or just a second away.

7BioVida Boost For Run And Gun
Better For A Mobile Playstyle
If you happen to be playing solo and not particularly coordinating much with teammates, the BioVida boost is likely the way to go, as opposed to the El Remedio ability. BioVida works great as a quick heal as you dip behind cover and stay engaged in the fight, and if teammates happen to be around, it’ll heal them as well.
This is not the playstyle that Libertad is particularly built for considering the passive and Ultra abilities being massively more beneficial with teammates around, but it can be effective, particularly if the game mode is something other than Escort or Occupy.

6El Remedio In Escort And Occupy
Better For Hunkering Down
ForEscort and Occupy game modesin particular, the El Remedio ability is usually the way to go, even if you aren’t coordinating much with your team.
Both of these game modes end up clustering teams near each other naturally, and that means a well-placed El Remedio can make a big difference, much bigger than the BioVida boost.

5Attach To A Phantom
Become Best Friends With A Phantom
A particularly effective strategy as Libertad can be to have a friend play as a Phantom. These two factions can help each other out tremendously; the Phantom can lay down a Mag Barrier as cover and the Libertad can toss down an El Remedio behind the new cover.
You can set up shop somewhere and be hard to move out of the way with these two combined, allowing the rest of your team to flank while the enemy is focused on moving you out. Have some Echelons and/or Cleaners working the flank, and you have some real team cohesion going on.

4BioVida Good In Close Range
BioVida Makes SMGs And Shotguns Measurably Happier
In general, for those playing a close-range playstyle, BioVida is the way to go. For shotguns and SMGs, which happen to have some of thebest weapons in the game, being inside their range usually means that El Remedio is going to have a good chance of getting blasted into oblivion before it comes into play, and it limits your options when it comes to moving around cover.
BioVida can be effective anywhere and doesn’t limit your options, and it’s great for very aggressive players choosing Libertad. Just pop behind cover for a split-second and heal up, and you’re back into the fight much sooner than the enemy expected.

3El Remedio Good In Medium/Long Range
El Remedio Is A Great Combo With Longer Range Builds
For those playing anything other than super close-range, El Remedio is usually going to be the better choice. That’s not to say there aren’t going to be exceptions, but most of the time in this kind of a fight, there’s cover you can toss the El Remedio behind and still get its benefits while actively engaged.
Plus, it allows you to see how the closer-range fight is panning out, and decide whether tossing El Remedio out is going to save a teammate or not. The cooldown on this ability is pretty substantial, so if thrown into an area where it has little effect, it’s going to be a while before you may rectify your mistake.

2Great For IGL
In-Game Leaders Might Make Good Freedom Fighters
For a team coordinated enough to have an IGL (in-game leader), Libertad is going to be one of the better faction choices, particularly if the game mode happens to be Escort, where teamwork is a bit more crucial.
An IGL is usually going to be making rotation decisions, pushing decisions, and holding decisions; if they’re also the ones tossing out healing when and where it’s needed, it’s going to be one less communicative step for them to request from someone else. It’ll help the healing come out a split-second sooner, and that might be enough to save someone’s life.

1You Are The Spine Of Your Team
Without The Healer, The Team Falls Apart
As Libertad, especially on themore difficult game mode Escort, you are going to be the spine of your team. That’s not to say you’re the only faction that matters; everybody has a role to play, but Libertad can keep a team on an objective longer than they would otherwise be able to, whether there’s a Phantom there or not.
Libertad has an Ultra that can make an entire team nearly unkillable as long as they’re grouped up, and are oftentimes the last word in a match. Libertad may not be flashy, but play smart and play as a team, and they’ll make a heck of a difference.
