10Clear Your Farm

When you boot up Stardew Valley for the first time, or start a fresh save file, one of the very first things you’ll do is step outside and see that Grandpa’s farm has fallen into quite a messy state. To make space for your first crops, you’ll want to clear away the branches and rocks that have accumulated.

But it isn’t just when it’s the first Spring for the save file. Every time Winter ends and Spring begins, there will be debris that crowds in on your space that will need to be removed if you want to make the most of your tillable tiles.

If you’ve been playing for long enough to purchase and build the Golden Clock, then you won’t need to worry about this happening.

9Spring Onions

Spring onions aren’t a crop. You can’t plant any seeds for them or plant mixed seeds, hoping to get some. Instead, you have to head down south in the Cindersap Forest to find them.

Depending on how many spawn, you will find some near the Forest entrance of the Sewers. When you pluck them out of the ground, they will give you foraging experience points. Plus, it’s a free source of energy for those that are navigating their first Spring in Stardew Valley.

8Catch Spring Fish

If it’s Spring Year One in your playthrough, fishing is an amazing way to boost your profits while you wait for your crops to grow. And if this is your second year, or even longer, then you may go out and catch any fish you missed the first time around, especiallyif you’re trying to reach perfection.

There are 12 fish you can catch during the Spring, including the infamous Legend:

7Forage And Chop Down Trees

If this is your first year in the Valley, you may get a jump start on leveling up your foraging skill. Not only is this skill important and the source of several helpful craftables, but the resources you can get from foraging are vital to getting buildings and even expanding where you can travel to.

Aside from the Spring foragables, you can start to chop down trees and gather their wood. And this isn’t just for beginning players. During the Winter, trees are stunted. But once Spring rolls around, you can start cutting them down and having them grow back.

The Spring foragables, aside from spring onions, are wild horseradish, leeks, daffodils, and dandelions.

6Salmonberry Season

Along with the Spring foragables you’re able to pick up from the ground, between Spring 15 and 18 you can harvest salmonberries from bushes all around Stardew Valley. You’ll be able to tell when a particular bush is host to these Springtime berries as they will have red dots sprouting from them.

In your first and even second year, grabbing these up will give you yet another free source of food and energy for when you start to run low. After that, you can still sell them or throw them into one of the machines that turns fruit into artisan goods.

5Build And Fill Your Silo

One of the first goals you can achieve in Stardew Valley is to build a coop. However, once you buy your firstchickens, they need to eatHay. And, although they will happily munch on grass growing around your farm, if you don’t have a silo, there is no way for you to gather hay without purchasing some from Marine.

Before you build your first coop, you should build a silo. Doing so will let you harvest hay from the grass on your farm. If this isn’t your first Spring, then chances are your animals have eaten you out of silo and home, and you’ll have to fill it up.

4Grow Or Keep Growing Grass

Speaking of animals eating hay and grass, Spring is an excellent time to make or purchase grass starters from Pierre. When starting out, you most likely won’t have to purchase any as there is an abundance of it thriving on your farm. But you shouldn’t cut it without a silo or get rid of it completely.

Even if you decide to wait until Summer or Fall to purchase animals, the grass is a free source of food for your animals, much like berries and foragables are for you. It can save you a lot of money in the long run if you just keep letting it grow.

3Attend The Spring Festivals

There are three festivals for you to attend in Spring. The Egg Festival, The Desert Festival, and the Flower Dance. All three of them house different activities and items you’re able to purchase that you can’t get at any other time during the year.

The Dessert Festivalmay be locked to you in your first year thanks to it needing the bus to be in operation again. And you may not have a partner in your first-ever Flower Dance. This is why, even if you feel that you’ve been there and done that, you should check them all out again.

2Buy Strawberries At The Egg Festival

Funny how the last tip didn’t talk about the Egg Festival much, huh? Well, that’s because strawberries deserve their own space because of how good they are. You can only buy strawberry seeds fromPierrebefore the Egg Hunt starts.

You plant them once and they continually produce strawberries until the first day of Summer. These can fetch you a lot of money on their own, but also be turned intoprofitable wines, jellies, anddried fruits.

1Build Up Friendships

Another of the first goals you can fulfill in Stardew Valley isthe Introductions questwhich has you meet everyone that lives in town. While it can be tedious, some of your new pals can give you some pretty awesome gifts.

Pam will start to send you battery packs, TheWizardcan send you precious stones and even Fire Quartz. Not to mention everyone has different recipes they will eventually send you in the mail.
