Summary
Pokemon Scarlet & Violetintroduce the Stellar Tera-type in competitive Pokemon and for raids. This means that rather than change typing, Pokemon will Terastallize into the Stellar-type, which grants you a few perks related to your move set. The Stellar-type gives you a damage boost the first time you use a specific type of move.
This allows Pokemon with varied types and move sets to become great assets. Choosing a Pokemon’s Tera-type can be costly but, if done correctly, can give you a competitive edge in raids, battles, and even completing the Pokedex. These are the ten best Pokemon that pair perfectly with the Stellar Tera-type.

10Terapagos
The Indigo Disk
Terapagos is one of the most uniquelegendary Pokemon. It has almost every type on its back though it is a Normal-type, and it is responsible for the entire Terastalization gimmick of the Paldea region.
Terapagos has decent overall stats, but what makes it stand out is how it gets a unique move called Tera Starstorm. If you use this move while Terapagos is in Stellar Form, it will hit both of your opponents in a double battle, and is also super effective against Terastalized Pokemon, regardless of type.

9Bellibolt
A Durable Pokemon
Bellibolt is an Electric-type Pokemon introduced in the Paldea region; it is also an excellent choice for raids, and it only gets better with the Stellar-type. With high stats in HP and Special Attack, Bellibolt can deal massive damage while also taking more hits.
One combination of moves is Acid Spray and Parabolic Charge; Acid Spray lets you lower your opponent’s Special Defense by two, while Parabolic Charge can heal and deal damage. The Stellar-type gives each move an extra kick the first time they are used.

8Malamar
Pokemon’s Best Ability
Malamar hasa special ability called Contrary, and similar to the topsy-turvy way Inkey evolves, it turns everything related to stats upside down. This means stats that would normally be raised get lowered; meanwhile, any stat loss will increase them instead.
Contrary is a powerful ability to have due to Tera Blast’s negative side effect of lowering the user’s Attack and Special Attack by one, which can help prevent the loss and turn it into a gain. Malamar is also only weak to Fairy and Bug-types giving it a little extra protection from a bad matchup.

7Arceus
Why Types Matter
Arceus is an interesting choice to give the Stellar Tera-type to, as it can shift into any type it wants by holding a specific plate. However, Terastalizing does not change the type of the move, Judgement.
Due to Judgement’s change of type with plates, it counts towards the Stellar boost and makes it easier to get a complete move set of different types. Incidentally, Arceus’s move pool also includes Acid Spray, which pairs well with Judgment and other Special Attack-based moves.

6Galarian Slowking
The Best Poison Pokémon
Galarian Slowking is a Poison/Psychic-type Pokemon, and the typing allows for plenty of typing combos in your chosen move set. While it has access to Acid Spray, it can also learn Sludge Wave, which hits everything on the field, allowing you to do more damage.
These moves also gain the benefit of STAB, while other moves such as Snarl or Psychic get the standard Stellar boost. Galarian Slowking is just a very versatile Pokemon that allows you to build a move set based on the situation.

5Enamorus
Best Physical Attacker
Enamorus is another Pokemon that can have the Contrary ability, which will help it become one of the most powerful physical attackers on your team. Once Terastalized, you can use moves like Tera Blast and Superpower to boost up your Attack stat while also going super effective against other Terastalized Pokémon.
Once you have your stats boosted, you can lay waste to your opponent with Play Rough or Zen Headbutt, which are both excellent physical attacks with convenientside effects such as the chance to flinchor lower your opponent’s stats.

4Lurantis
Jack Of All Trades
Lurantis works well as a hybrid attacker; it can have Contrary as an ability that swaps around stat increases and decreases. With access to Leaf Storm, it can quickly rack up a killer Special Attack boost, so Tera Blast can now be deadlier than ever.
If you want to get physical, Lurantis can also learn Superpower, which can give it a boosted Attack stat. Since Tera Blast can take the form of a physical or Special Attack, this pretty much covers all your bases, so get ready to dominate that raid boss.

3Araquanid
Max Out Your Attack
There’s one rule when it comes to choosing who to give the Stellar-type to. Either give it to a Pokemon with Contrary to boost Tera Blast, or choose a Pokemon with multiple types for the STAB bonus.
Araquanid gets the Stellar STAB boost for Bug and Water-type moves, and it can also take advantage of its ability, Water Bubble, to double the power of your Water-type moves. This gives a move like Liquidation, which is normally an 85-power move, a base power of 170 instead.

2Swampert
Only One Weakness
The Hoenn region’s very own water starter is an interesting choice to give the Stellar-type to. First off, it is only weak to Grass-type moves, so it narrows down your opponent’s choice of attacker and can even help it last longer during raids.
Since the Stellar Tera-type benefits from having a diverse move set, it helps that Swampert can learn many different moves, such as Poison Jab, Rock Slide, and Ice Punch. Moves that get STAB include Earthquake and Liquidation, which can really pack a punch.

1Serperior
The Best Stellar Pokémon
Serperior is possibly the best choice of Pokemon to have the Stellar Tera-type. Not only does it have access to Contrary, but it also has excellent Special Attack stats, which only get better with Leaf Storm, and a high Speed stat also allows it to hit first most of the time.
In Pokémon Raid Battles, you may use Leaf Storm to max out your Special Attack, and then you can Terastallize and gain access to Tera Blast. This super-effective move can demolish a boss quickly as long as you set it up first.
