Summary

Backyard Baseball is a blast from the past for many people where kid versions of popular baseball characters would face off against kid characters created for the game. Whether you prefer to play exhibition games or start up a season, you’re always faced with the same decision: who are you picking to be on your team?

With so many characters that have excellent stats across four skills (batting, running, pitching, and fielding), it can be a tough decision to make. And, added into the mix, there are some fan favorites. But who are the best kids on the field?

Backyard Baseball Maria over blurred background

This list focuses on the original characters from the Backyard Baseball series and won’t include the kid versions of MLB players.

10Maria Luna

Maria isn’t who you put on the pitcher’s mound, but she’s got good stats in the other three skills. This means bunts and line drives that allow her to get on base easily.

Not only can she get on base, but you’re able to use her abilities to bring any players you have on base in to score a run. If you’re looking to pad out your lineup, you could do a lot worse than Maria.

Backyard Baseball Mikey over blurred background

9Mikey Thomas

Nugget, as he’s known on the field, is a power hitter. He’s not the fastest runner or the best pitcher, but his hitting and his fielding are his highlights.

He easily hits balls out of the park and can catch just about anything that comes his way. With these skills, and with all the other characters who make better pitchers anyway, he can be a powerful addition to your team.

Backyard Baseball Jocinda over blurred background

8Jocinda Smith

Jocinda has power. The ball flies off of her bat. Aside from that, she’s also an excellent fielder. Pitching and running, however, aren’t her strongest suits.

This makes her an excellent clean up hitter as she has a good chance of hitting a home run. If she doesn’t, she can hit it hard enough to give her time to get on base before she can be thrown out.

Backyard Baseball Kenny over blurred background

A clean up hitter is the hitter that is fourth in the batting lineup. This is due to their power and ability to “clean up” the bases by hitting players in.

7Kenny Kawaguchi

Kenny, or K-Man to his teammates, has speed and pitching on his side. And although his batting and fielding aren’t his strongest skills, it doesn’t mean he can’t get on base and stop the other team from doing the same.

He’s great in the infield and can come in to relieve your current pitcher if their energy runs low. This makes him an all-aroundgreat baseballplayer.

Backyard Baseball Ashley and Sidney over blurred background

6Sidney And Ashley Weber

Both the Weber sisters and the Khan brothers gain boosts to their play if they are on the same team. If you’re going to pick one, it only makes sense to pick the other sibling for your team too.

Looking at their stats, they appear to be rather average. But if you have both of them on the same team, they get a boost in-game that elevates their stats even further, making them a great team and making your team great too.

Backyard Baseball Kiesha over blurred background

5Kiesha Phillips

Kiesha is a fan of movies, and you should be a fan of Keisha. Her batting and running stats are some of the highest in the league, making her a threat as a batter.

Even her fielding isn’t bad, and with her speed, she can get into position to catch a ball quickly. This more than makes up for her pitching skill. Why have her on the mound when she can put in work on the field?

Backyard Baseball Stephanie over blurred background

4Stephanie Morgan

Stephanie is an all-around powerhouse. She can hit, she can run, she can field. And, if you’re in a pinch, she can pitch too, even though it’s her weakest skill.

This means that she can fill in for whatever you’re missing on your team. Do you need a good fielder to complete your team? Or another good hitter to fill up a spot? Choose Stephanie, she’ll help make yourteam one of the best.

Backyard Baseball Angela over blurred background

3Angela Delvecchio

The girl can’t run, and she can’t field. But she is one of the most amazing pitchers in the game, and she can hit anything you need her to.

The best thing to do is make her a catcher when she’s not pitching, and then when you need to swap your pitcher, bring her in. Then she doesn’t have to useher weaker skills.

Backyard Baseball Pablo over blurred background

2Pablo Sanchez

This is the hottest take on the list. Pablo is a fantastic player. An amazing hitter. An out of this world fielder. But the fan base has hyped this kid up so much.

So much of the game still comes down to what type of hit you’re going for and how well you time your hits. Meaning that it’s not stats alone that win you games. But yes. Pablo is still amazing, especially if used right.

Backyard Baseball Luanne over blurred background

1Luanne Lui

Lulu is an underrated beast of a player. Lore-wise (if you’re able to call it that), she is only four years old. And she can pitch circles around all the big kids.

She’s an above average hitter and she is a speed demon! Even if you bunt, there is a high chance she can make it on base before anyone can do anything about it.
