Summary

Cards that destroy other cards are fairly common inMarvel Snap, not only as a counter to what your opponent is doing but also as a mechanic where your cards grow stronger as they get destroyed. Lady Deathstrike is one of the few destroy cards that target both you and your opponent.

She destroys cards that have 3 or less power, meaning she can potentially counter many game plans while also buffing your Wolverine, for example. This ability is tricky to use, hence why she rarely saw play, but after her buff she has been sneaking into more than one decklist, showing the flexibility the Lady adds to the game.

Shuffling Costs Around

The main downside of Lady Deathstrike is how late she can be played since turn five tends to be the second to last turn of the game. While that is potentially enough for her to have an impact, being able to play her even sooner can stop things like Angela or Kitty Pryde from getting out of hand.

Always add Mobius M. Mobius to Pixie decks, so the low-cost cards that had their cost increased can still be played.

This iswhere Pixie comes into playsince she shuffles the cost of cards in your deck, making Deathstrike potentially cost only one energy. And even if she ends up costing more, like if she swapped her cost with a 6-cost card, that still means that a 6-cost card can now be played a turn earlier.

More Ways To Deal With The Void

Sentry is a powerful 4-cost card with an equally powerful downside: he summons the Void, a -10 power card, to the leftmost location. You always need another card to deal with the Void, either Annihilus to send it to your opponent, or low-cost cards to fill the left location beforehand.

Lady Deathstrike is another way to deal with the Void and not worry about destroying your other high-value cards, since she can simply be played to the left and deal with the -10 problem.Annihilus is clearly betterin that context, but you can’t always draw him on time, so having multiple cards that do a similar job will improve your win rate.

Marvel Snap Card The Hood

5The Hood

You Only Want The Demon

The Hood summons a Demon to your hand when played, and in reality, all you really want is said Demon, making the Hood a liability. Oftentimes, you’ll want to destroy the Hood, but few cards have a targeted way to deal with it since things like Killmonger will kill your Demon as well.

With Lady Deathstrike, you don’t have to worry about the safety of your Demon, or at least not from your cards. Since the Demon has plenty more than 3 power, he is perfectly safe against Deathstrike, letting you play both the Hood and Demon in the same spot and not really worry about it.

You Don’t Always Want To Kill Him

When Deadpool is destroyed, he goes back to your hand with double the power, making it seem like you always want to kill the merc with a mouth. Yet that depends highly on how you plan to finish the final turn and if you need more power in one location or in several.

By turn 5, Deadpool will likely be more than 3 power, meaning that Lady Deathstrike won’t kill him, but you may want that. You can’t play a powerful 6-cost card and Deadpool on the final turn, so keeping him in play could be to your advantage. In the meantime, Deathstrike is still killing everything else in the location.

Marvel Snap Card x-23

3X-23

More Ways To Gain Energy

X-23 gives you one point of energyeach time she’s destroyed, letting you cheat out all sorts of things early. You usually want to plan when you destroy her so you can get specific cards out early, but if you can kill her at every turn, you don’t have to keep track of so many things.

Lady Deathstrike fits nicely into a curve with X-23, and she almost always gets to destroy X-23 without removing power from the board. Things like Carnage and Deathlok can often remove more power than they add, but if your cards have more than 3 power, Deathstrike will only target X-23 and leave all others alone.

Marvel Snap Card Death

2Death

Costing Zero On The Final Turn

Death gets its cost reduced each time something is destroyed, either by you, by your opponent, or by an unlucky location. With Death, you want a high number of targets destroyed, no matter their quality, making Deathstrike a great way to make both cards flourish.

It isn’t uncommon to have one location filled with small cards, either because they have a good accumulation of power or because their effects more than make up for their lack of might. As such, targets for Lady Deathstrike are plenty, especially on the last few turns, so a Death that costs zero is easy to achieve.

Knull by Eduardo Mello

1Knull

A Destroy Deck’s Payoff

Knull’s ability is an ongoing one, making his power equal to the accumulation of things destroyed. While Lady Deathstrike might not seem like she adds much, particularly due to the limitations of what she can destroy, every little bit counts for the god of the symbiotes.

If, for example, your opponent has four multiple men in a location, that adds up to 12 power, making it nothing to scoff at. Lady Deathstrike would, in turn, destroy them all, adding a Hulk’s worth of power to an already growing Knull, letting you win big on that final turn 6.
