Summary
As far as iconic drinks go in theFallout series, Nuka Cola is the undisputed champion. This soft drink has become emblematic of the series at large, and can be found almost anywhere you can imagine from coast to post-apocalyptic coast.
Not even the world ending could put a dent in the popularity of this drink. The shadow Nuka Cola casts is long, but it is far from the only beverage in the series. Within Fallout, there’s a variety of drinks with features both helpful and not so helpful. These range from the good to the bad, and these are some of the best.
8Deezer’s Lemonade
Fallout 4
If you’re in the mood for something on the sweeter side, seek out Deezer, a malfunctioning Mister Handy robot that can be found in the wasteland town of Covenant. This drink, voted best in Covenant for three years running, restores a flat 50 health per use.
This is accomplished without any accompanying radiation or any other unwanted side effects, making it a useful, if uncommon, source of healing. If that sounds appealing, then stock up next time you’re in the neighborhood.
7Bobrov’s Best Moonshine
In Fallout, alcoholic beverages typically come with an upside and a downside. Bobrov’s best moonshine comes with not one, not two, but three upsides to only one downside: one point of Strength, one point of Charisma, and +25 max health points at the cost of only one point of Charisma.
The effect is temporary, but useful in a pinch for passing speech checks or otherwise bolstering your stats when you need a boost. It can be purchased at the Dugout Innin Diamond City, or found throughout the game world.
6Ware’s Brew
Often, even regular drinks in Fallout come with some sort of downside to using them, mitigating any health gained from their use. More often than not, this downside comes in the form of radiation, a taint found in most food and drink throughout the wasteland.
Contrary to this, however, is Ware’s brew, a drink that not only restores a whopping one hundred health points but also removes one hundred rads as well. If that wasn’t enough, stamina is lost, for 50 seconds, at a reduced rate.
5Bitter Drink
New Vegas
Bitter drink is a strong and reliable way of regaining health, dispensing with the downsides of lesser sources of consumable-based healing such as healing powder. It restores two health points per second for an impressive 18 seconds, rivaling some of the best restoratives in the game.
The use of this powerful tool comes only after completion of theLonesome Road DLCand the acquisition of the requisite recipe. The drink may be bitter, but the effect it has certainly isn’t.
4Vim Captain’s Blend
Vim, a lesser-known variety of soft drink, competed with Nuka Cola in the northeast. Vim came in a variety of flavors, the rarest and most useful being the Vim Captain’s Blend. This rare beverage restores an incredible 600 health points, with an additional 100 action points restored.
On the downside, it temporarily reduces charisma, but with the bonus effect ofcausing certain enemiesto remain passive for the same duration of time. The Vim Captain’s Blend can only be found in the factory where it was made, where the recipe can also be found.
3Sunset Sarsaparilla
If there was any soft drink that could be said to challenge the throne of Nuka Cola, that soft drink would be Sunset Sarsaparilla. Like Nuka Cola, drinking a Sunset Sarsaparilla will reward you with a single bottle cap, while also restoring health as expected.
Unlike Nuka Cola, however, drinking a Sunset Sarsaparilla confers no radiation. The frequency with which these beverages can be found makes them a very reliable source of health, if not for their healing ability than for their ubiquity.
2Battle Brew
While it does restore some health, Battle Brew’s main utility is in the other effects it offers, those being a boost to maximum action points, damage resistance, and strength. All of this is accomplished for the price a single point of intelligence.
Battle Brew, the ingredients of which are better left unsaid, was a homebrew concoction devised in the Big Mountain facility, where it can still be found to this day. All in all, the effects of Battle Brew are incredibly potent, matching the rarity of this beverage.
1Purified Water
Fallout 3, 4, New Vegas, And 76
There’s nothing fancy about this one: water is the ultimate beverage, equal in the benefits it provides and what it represents. A radiation-free source of quenching one’s thirst is not always readily at hand in the expanse of the wasteland, and, as all life ultimately depends on water to some degree, that makes it all the more beneficial.
A source of fresh, clean water is a source of a life untainted by the war that nearly destroyed the earth.
