It’s no surprise thatGenshin Impacthas an ever-growing cast of playable characters, with one or two new characters being released every update. To provide a unique experience with each of them, every character has their own set of stats, playstyle, element, and weapon, which can cater to your own personal preference.

Typically, characters can deal DMG based on their ATK stat, which can be increased as you increase their level, weapon level, artifacts, as well as with the help of certain buffs. However, over the course time, the game has also released characters that make use of other stats, such as HP, allowing them to aid your team in battle while also being extremely tanky.

Updated on July 07, 2025, by Sanyam Jain:Ever since Genshin Impact has changed the Elemental Resonance for Hydro to give extra HP to the entire party, this element has become the hub of the HP-based unit. The most recent addition to this is Mualani in the Version 5.0 update, and much like every HP-based DPS, she does quite well.

10Chevreuse

Chevreuse is an interesting support character, as her whole kit focuses on only one type of Elemental Reaction: Overloaded. After triggering Overloaded with any character, both the Pyro and Electro Resistance of enemies will be reduced at the same time, which is like having a built-in Viridescent Venerer set for two elements.

To trigger Chevreuse’s buffs, your team can only be composed of both Pyro and Electro characters.

Additionally, after triggering Overloaded, firing the hold version of her Elemental Skill allows her to increase your entire team’s attack, which scales with her Max HP. With 40,000 HP, this buff can reach a whopping 40 percent ATK boost.

9Zhongli

If you haveZhongli, or you’re planning to get him, he’s a main-stay in your account no matter what content you’re facing. As the Geo Archon, Zhongli boasts the strongest shield in the game, being able withstand heavy attacks while your characters comfortably fight in the battlefield.

His shield scales with his Max HP, so the more you have, the more formidable his shield will be. But that’s not all, his Fourth Ascension Passive increases the DMG of his entire kit based on his Max HP, allowing you to be tanky while still dealing considerable DMG.

Enemies near Zhongli’s shield will have their All-Elemental Resistance decreased by 20 percent.

Other great alternative shielders are Diona, Layla, Kirara, and Thoma.

8Sangonomiya Kokomi

Kokomi is one of the best supports in the gamebecause of the utility that she provides. She has two ways of healing your party: by using her Elemental Skill, which stays on the field, or by using her Elemental Burst, allowing her to heal your team through her Normal Attacks.

Aside from being a great healer, she’s also a comfortable DPS pick, as her Burst allows her to deal DMG that scales with her HP, which is also what her heals scale off of. Her versatile kit allows you to slot her in any team that requires a healer or a Hydro applicator.

7Baizhu

Baizhuis another fantastic healer who compresses healing, shielding, buffing, and Dendro application into one role. Like, Kokomi, he can heal by using either his Elemental Skill, which can immediately heal your entire team, or his Elemental Burst, which will periodically heal your active character.

His Elemental Burst will also periodically summon small shields that can help mitigate DMG and prevent you being knocked out, while applying Dendro to a target enemy. Additionally, he can increase the DMG of all Dendro-related reactions dealt by your active character the more HP he has.

6Nilou

Nilouis a unique support in the sense that she’s the first character to focus on a specific Elemental Reaction, and evenchanges how that reaction works. After using her Elemental Skill, all Dendro Cores triggered by the Bloom reaction will instead turn into Bountiful Cores.

These effects will only occur if your team is composed of only Hydro and Dendro characters.

Unlike regular Dendro Cores, Bountiful Cores will explode immediately upon creation, dealing significantly more DMG and having a much larger explosion radius. Moreover, every 1,000 points of Nilou’s Max HP above 30,000 will increase the Bountiful Cores’ DMG.

5Mualani

Mualani was the first limited characterreleased in Natlan, which also came with the Nightsoul and Phlogiston mechanics. This is a special state for Natlan-based characters in which they’re heavily buffed, and it also serves as the state where they provide the most value in the team be it DPS or support.

Mualani can easily deal over 200,000 damage every two to three seconds in her Nightsoul state as long as the conditions are right, though it might take a bit too much effort to get these conditions in most cases. Still, she’s one of the highest damage-dealing characters in the game, and you can easily clear all the endgame content with her.

4Hu Tao

Hu Tao is the famed Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, as well as one of the best DPS characters in the game for a long time, and for good reason. Her powerful Charged Attacks and Elemental Burst deal massive DMG, especially when paired with the Vaporize and Melt reactions, which skyrocket her DMG output.

Hu Tao’s self-sacrificing playstyle can be offset by using her Elemental Burst, which instantly heals her based on her Max HP.

Genshin Impact, Neuvillette using the power of Hydro.

She deals more DMG when she’s under 50 percent HP as she gains 33 percent Pyro DMG Bonus this way.

Her Elemental Skill reduces a portion of her current HP, which will then convert her Max HP into ATK — the more HP she has, the higher her ATK will be. Since she wants to be built with high HP, she’s also incredibly tanky, allowing her to take hits that would be fatal for most characters.

3Yelan

The enigmaticYelancombines both offensive and supportive capabilities with her kit that closely resembles that of Xingqiu. Her Elemental Burst allows her to deal coordinated attacks when you perform Normal Attacks with your active character, which deal a lot of off-field DMG and apply plenty Hydro for you to trigger Elemental Reactions effortlessly.

Aside from being a DMG-dealer, Yelan is also one of the most-used supports in the game, as her Elemental Burst will also increase your active character’s DMG by up to 50 percent during its duration. The best part is, her Elemental Skill, Elemental Burst, and special Charged Attack’s DMG completely scales with her HP, eliminating the need for ATK buffers, such as Bennett.

2Neuvillette

Neuvillettehas quickly climbed the ranks of powerful DPS characters and makes him atop priority if you’re planning to pull for a main DPS. He boasts high DMG multipliers, DMG Bonus, and ease of use, which makes him the best character to use for both Single-Target and AoE content.

His bread and butter is his Charged Attack, which, unlike other catalyst users, can continuously fire off a stream of Hydro that damages all enemies in its path and scales with his Max HP. He’s also an excellent self-sustainer despite draining his own HP, as he’s able to heal himself by picking up Sourcewater Droplets that also speed up his Charged Attack’s charging time, making him a one-man army.

1Furina

Furina is by far the best support character in the gameas of Fontaine, with her ability to manipulate your whole team’s HP fluctuation and provide huge buffs, while also dealing DMG herself. Her Elemental Skill can be used for either DMG or healing, depending on the situation.

IfFurinais in Ousia state, her Elemental Skill summons three familiars that deal off-field DMG, which scales with her Max HP.

If she’s in Pneuma state, she instead summons a familiar that heals your active character. Furina can change into Ousia or Pneuma by using her Charged Attack.

Additionally, her Elemental Skill in Ousia state will continuously drain your whole team’s HP whenever they attack, which works in tandem with her Elemental Burst. After using her Burst, Furina gains a stack whenever your team loses or gains HP, and turns into into DMG Bonus, reaching up to 70 percent.
