Summary
Fallout 4is an open-world game, and it can be difficult to know exactly where to go. Some areas have secret items, and should be discovered early on. In contrast, some areas require a higher skill set, and will be much more difficult if you explore them right away.
Once you go through the start of the game, you’ll exit the vault. The game will take you to a few areas that are obvious, such as Sanctuary and Concord. From there, it’s up to you what you want to explore. Below, you’ll find the best areas to check out first In Fallout 4.

8Wicked Shipping Fleet LockUp
Map Markers
This location has a computer terminal with multiple map markers. This highlights locations on your map that are important areas that you should definitely visit in the future that can help you move forward in the game. There is also a ton of great material at this location.
When you get here,there are feral ghouls, and it’s very high in radiation. Tread carefully, and make sure the car in the garage doesn’t take too much damage, or it will explode.

7Sunshine Tidings Co-op
Settlement
Sunshine Tidings Co-op has a large amount of loot, including the wasteland survival guide, which allows you to permanently collect more meat from dead animals.
The main perk to this area is it’s a very large open space that you can set up as a settlement. If you do, you’ll get to hang with Professor Goodfeels, a hippy robot who is there for a good time.

6Federal Ration Stockpile
Military Manual
This area is dangerous, but worth it. There’s a lot of raiders, including one in power armor. If you kill all the raiders, you can head into the hideout, where you’ll run into Red Tourette, the boss. Killing her gets you access to her personal loot.
You’ll find a military manual that will make you harder todetect while in stealth mode, and you get the password for a computer to open a master lock, which will give you a ton of great items. In this area, you’ll also find a Fat Man and multiple Fusion cores, both of which are very useful.

Watch out for traps and turrets in the hideout. Move through slowly.
5Corvega Assembly Plant
Repair Bobblehead
Corvega Assembly Plant is a great early stop. You get the repair bobblehead which permanently increases the duration of fusion cores by ten percent. You also find the comic Grognak the Barbarian magazine, which gives a five percent bonus to critical melee and unarmed attacks.
Later in the game, there’s a quest that takes you here, but doing it earlier makes it easier for you. There’s also a lot of loot to get within the area. Beware, it’s heavily guarded by raiders.

4Malden Middle School - Vault 75
Science Bobblehead
If you wander around Malden Middle School, you’ll discover the Science bobblehead, which grants +1 attempt when hacking terminals. This can be incredibly helpful moving forward in the game.
Of course, you’ll have to make your way through a large concentration of gunners-strong enemies, but you’ll be rewarded with incredible weapons that will come in handy throughout the game, and a Grognak the Barbarian Comic.

3Vault 81
Syringer Rifle
Vault 81 is a great location to explore. You will need three fusion cores to enter, but if you’ve been to the other places on this list, you should have more than enough. One of the most important things you can grab from the vault is vegetables, which can help youmake food plots if you want to engage in the settlements.
In Vault 81, you can get the Medicine bobblehead, which gives you ten percent to your healing from stimpacks. There are multiple quests, and one gives you the Syringer Rifle, which is a unique weapon. You can also get the companion Curie, a gutsy robot, in this location.

2Trinity Tower
Companion Strong
Trinity Tower is a great quest that’s good to do early on. you’re able to find the Trinity Tower quest by being nearby andtuning into the radio station.The greatest thing you earn here is the companion Strong, who is a super mutant, and considered one of the best companions.
Trinity Tower has tons of loot, and the Melee bobblehead, which adds 25 percent crit damage with melee weapons. It is a tough area with super mutants, but if you come with strong weapons and lots of food, you’ll be just fine.

1Diamond City
Leveling Up
After finishing the other places, head on over to Diamond City. It’s an incredibly dense area with tons of quests. Coming here will help you level up to prepare you for harder areas later in the game.
There are two great companions here, Piper Wright and Nick Valentine, whom you can get by doing their respective quests. There are a lot of vendors in this area, and if you save up your caps, you can purchase some unique items, such as a Big Boy, or Old Faithful, a laser pistol.
