Summary
Another Crab’s Treasuretakes a page from the Soulslike book to offer challenging boss battles and punishing gameplay. It also features beautiful underwater areas you can explore for secrets and hidden enemies.
Each area in Another Crab’s Treasure serves a different purpose. Still, some of them are bound to stick longer in your memory due to their unique design or the variety of content they offer. With that in mind, let’s rank every area in Another Crab’s Treasure.

Optional Bosses
None
With a name as genius as The Sands Between – a nod to Elden Ring’s mystic lands beyond the fog, you’ll probably expect more of this area. Unfortunately, there’s not much to see and do in The Sands Between.
The area is one big space you must navigate to reach other areas. The only true sight there is Pagurus, the Ravenous, a tough boss that spawns if you leave the marked trail. There is nothing inherently wrong with The Sands Between, but it pales compared to other areas.

Trash Island is at the center of the progressively wilder story of Another Crab’s Treasure. You take the whole game to get there, but the scenery is mostly forgettable.
By the end of Another Crab’s Treasure, you’ll probably feel tired of killing the same enemies repeatedly, as the game does not offer much variety apart from bosses. So, the final battle against Firth in Trash Island will probably not be enough to make the are more memorable.

Curdled Carbonara Coinnesseur, Grovekeeper Topoda
The Expired Grove replaces the lushing green forest common in classic medieval adventure games. It’s also where the grim effects of the Gunk begin to make sense.
The underwater lush area is filled with dangers and throws new enemies into the mix, allowing it to range slightly above the previous ones. Still, the Expired Grove is just a small stop in Another Crab’s Treasure that fails to leave a lasting impression.

The Mouth of the Drain is the final step in the search for the fabled treasure everyone wants to claim for themselves. There, the story climaxes and teases its ending before a twist takes you by surprise and sends you on a quest for a magic item.
The Mouth of the Drain is a relatively short area that serves only as an arena for the Roland boss fight. Still, as the promised land that you try to reach for the biggest chunk of your playthrough, it’s important enough to rank higher than similar areas.

New Carcinia works as a hub to which you go back to buy new items, talk to NPCs and get hints of where you should go next. It’s also an architectural wonder made of trash that shows Another Crab’s Adeventure’s dedication to its themes.
The fact the city is split into two different levels also helps it stand out. In the city, huge skyscrapers tower in the slums where poor people attempt to survive, as a perfect example of society’s inequality. There’s a lot to see and do in New Carcinia, which makes coming back there multiple times exciting enough.

The Consortium, Scuttling Sludge Steamroller
Floatsam Valley is packed with content and has the biggest number of boss fights in Another Crab’s Treasure. Sinceboss fights are so important for Soulslike games, that is already a great reason for Floatsam Valley to be one of the best areas in the game.
Floatsam Valley also offers an incredible variety of challenges. There are harmful swamp areas and buildings filled with moving machinery, demanding precise platforming and careful positioning during combat. Floatsam Valley might not look as pretty as other areas in the game, but it remains a joy to traverse it and uncover its secrets.

Petroch, Inkerton (Second encounter)
The Unfanthom stands out from other areas in Another Crab’s Treasure because it flips the exploration upside down. You’ll look at the horizon for the entire game to find new curious buildings and natural rock formations that can become your new goal. In The Unfathom, the darkness of the ocean’s depth makes it hard to use your surroundings to locate new things to explore.

The darkness also hides enemies that might flank you if you are not careful. So, while The Unfanthom is not great to explore, its unique challenges and visuals deserve our love.
Royal Shelsplitter
Despite being the first area in Another Crab’s Treasure, The Shallows is amazing. With many secrets to uncover and tough enemies to beat, The Shallows gives you the exploration freedom you need to understand all of the game’s core mechanics.
The Shallows also offer huge gameplay variety and are home to brilliant subareas such as Slacktide Castle and the caves of the Moon Snail. There’s so much to see in The Shallows that you’ll likely spend more time there than anywhere else.

The Old Ocean is where the original Carcinia was built before the city was overtaken by the Gunk. Led by a greedy monarch, Carcinia fell to the curse spread by pollution, a fate that will also befall New Carcinia if the ocean residents don’t change their ways.
There’s something magical about exploring a decayed kingdom while unraveling the mysteries of Another Crab’s Treasure. The Old Ocean is the closest the game got to replicatingthe wondrous ruins present in most From Software games, which only empowers the game’s ecofriendly and anticapitalist message.
