Always Stay Hidden And Use the Darkness To Your Advantage
Darkness in the game is not a hindrance but a quality you should use to your advantage.Openly attacking enemies is not always a reliablemethod because you might find yourself overwhelmed due to their numerical superiority and various weapons.
As long as you stay in the dark, you will remain Hidden or Partially Hidden, depending on the intensity of the darkness. You canmonitor this from your character portraitin the bottom left corner.
If you stay hidden in the shadows, enemieswon’t be able to detect you, allowing you to pick them off one by one. You canuse the Chop action to instantly take downan enemy by approaching them from behind when they are not aware of you.
Additionally, you can lie in wait in the darkness toeliminate goons who follow a specific route.If a mafia member separates from the others at the end of their route and is near the darkness, you can easily take them out without the others noticing. The numerical superiority of enemies will make things more difficult for you.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you approach enemies,their detection bar will increase, and they will start to follow you. Since it doesn’t fill up very quickly, you may have some time to move from one shadow to another.
Remember that goons chasing youwon’t pursue you indefinitely.After a certain time, they will give up. Run while escaping them, as running does not consume Stamina.
Finishers Are An Effective Healing Tool
Sometimes you might find yourself unarmed and forced tofight with melee attacks.In these situations, it’s likely you’ll lose health, but you may make up for this by using finishers. Thus, food isn’t the only way to heal; effective combat can also prevent health loss.
When fighting fewer enemies, you’re able to fight more cautiously, reducing the need to use finishers.
To perform a finisher, ensure the enemy you’re fighting hasabout one-third of their health bar left.Then, give them a light punch (basic jab) from close range.Avoid using heavy punchesthat deal significant damage.
After one or two light punches, theenemy will become ‘dazed.‘If you think the enemy might die from the next punch, hold off a bit to let them recover slightly. Once the enemy is dazed, interact with them to finish them off with a cool animation and heal yourself.
You Can Find Hidden Places And Objects With Your Lighter
There will be many dark areas in the game. While these areas seem useful for staying hidden from enemies, they are genuinely dark and sometimesmake it difficult to see anything.In such situations, your only option is to rely on your lighter, which is theonly source of light in the game.
With your lighter, you can explore the surroundings and detect any hidden entrances. You can alsofind weapons or consumableswaiting in the dark corners of buildings. For example, your apartment in the first level isn’t very bright, and you might miss some doors due to the darkness.
Even if you open a door, you might not see inside because of the dark. However, if you use your lighter to see the coat rack behind the door and approach it, you may find a Baseball Bat, which can be a decent weapon for the early parts of the game.
Remember that while using your lighter, you cannot stay hidden in the dark, and enemies can notice you.
Gain Useful Resources By Finding Secrets
Each level you play contains hidden secrets. As the name suggests,finding these can be challenging, but they can provide valuable information about the game’s story orgrant access to useful resources.verify to thoroughly explore the map of each level to uncover these secrets.
For example, in the first level called ‘Wake Up Call’, there are seven secrets to discover. Here’s two of them:
After leaving the hotel and being attacked by an armed car, enter the back alley between thebuildings marked ‘Self Storage’ and ‘Ace Cola’ signs.Climb onto the dumpster and then onto the air conditioner. Look up, and you’llsee an open window.This is not only the location of the first secret but also where Nightwave watches you, although it’s of no use.
Exit through the window into Nightwave’s room and go to the right. At the far end, jump to thebuilding near the ‘Glass Hearts Rule The City’ sign.Proceed to climb to the top of the building marked ‘Darkhound Whiskey’.Use the boxes at the back of the buildingto reach its highest point.
You’ll notice anelectrical cable with pigeonson it leading from one end of the building to another. Cross to the opposite roof, then turn left to find a red-lit area. Go there and open the curtains to discover 170 dollars, Body Armor, a Nail Gun, and a Molotov. Quite a rewarding mystery, isn’t it?
Don’t Forget To Kill Unconscious Enemies
When you take down enemies with punches or non-lethal weapons, they will collapse to the ground. Their status will be indicated when you approach them,either unconscious or dead.You can tell they are unconscious by the ‘ZZZ’ signs above them.
Leaving enemies unconscious is never a good idea. Otherliving enemies can come over and wake them up, which can lead to them outnumbering you and making your task more difficult. Therefore, make sure toStomp on downed enemies to finish them off.
Never Leave Your Weapon Slots Empty
From the very beginning of the game, starting in your bedroom, you will find weapons in various places. Always pick up the weapons you see andnever leave your three weapon slots empty.
You can fight with melee attacks, but as you progress through the levels, the number of enemies you encounter will increase, and there will be dangerous types, such as those dealing ranged damage. Therefore, youcannot always rely on your fists.
Also, do not fill your weapon slotswith unnecessary or nearly broken weapons.For example, if you are using a pistol and run out of bullets, it would be a smart move to replace it with a Hatchet if you find one later. Additionally, when you cannot find weapons, you can use throwable objects like barrels or fire extinguishers to wear down your enemies.
Don’t Be Stingy With Your Money
You can’t find money everywhere in the game. Not every enemy you kill drops money. Sometimes it’s found in hidden places, and sometimesit drops from glowing enemies.Although money isn’t easy to come by, it’s unfortunatelynot an extremely valuable resourcein the game.
This is because there aren’t many places to spend a lot of money, andyou won’t get anything epic by saving it up.If you find yourself in a tough spot with low health, don’t hesitate to use vending machines by spending your money.
Take Advantage Of Consumable Buffs
Your health will often drop, and you will need to use various foods, drinks, or medical items to heal yourself. Some of them not only heal you but alsoprovide temporary buffs.Using these to your advantage can help you get ahead in tough battles. If you have empty weapon slots and haven’t found any weapons,carrying a consumable item is very sensible.
For example, drinking cola increases your speed, which is beneficial if you want to play stealthily and hide in the dark, or if you’re low on health and searching for a weapon. Smoking increases your accuracy, making you more effective in battles.
