Summary
Mattellaunched a range of miniature Barbie setsearlier this year, shrinking the iconic doll, along with her accessories and iconic BarbieLand locations, down to size. Now that collection is getting bigger. No, not by scaling Barbie back up to regular doll size, but by adding a new set to the collection. The Mojo Dojo Casa House, the same one Ken calls home in the Barbie movie, is coming to mini BarbieLand.
The set was officially revealed today and will be available to buy from San Diego Comic-Con, in person for attendees and thenthrough the Mattel Creations sitefor the rest of us shortly after. Modeled after Ken’s house from the movie - the very same one he returns to after having a somewhat problematic revelation in the real world - the set will also include a 1.5-inch tall Ken doll. I’m assuming that’s the smallest Ken doll Mattel has made in the Barbie sidekick’s 60-year history.

It’s also the first Ken to be added to the Mini BarbieLand collection at all. When the range was revealed back in April it kicked off with all sorts of Barbie-themed sets, including a Dream House that will soon be able to sit right alongside the Mojo Dojo Casa House. Each set comes with a different Barbie but none of them have come with a Ken until now. The set will presumably be bigger and more elaborate than the others introduced to the Mini BarbieLand collection as it will cost $50.
Mini BarbieLand Is Getting A Tiny Bit Bigger
Also introduced today via Mattel’s early SDCC reveals is a Hot Wheels Naboo Starship. You might think of toy cars when you hear Hot Wheels, but this very special departure from the toymakers' regular schedule has brought with it a fantastic recreation of the ship Queen Padme used to escape Naboo when her home planet was under attack. A continuation of The Phantom Menace’s 25th-anniversary celebrations, like the Mojo Dojo Casa House, the Starship will get a full reveal during this year’s SDCC and be sold for $30.
These Barbie and Hot Wheels reveals come a week on from Mattel showing offhow it will celebrate 85 years of Batman. A Little People Collector Set featuring toy versions of every actor to have played Batman on the big screen, and a Hot Wheels set made up of various Batmobiles from throughout Batman’s 85-year history were shown off. Both will be available to buy starting from SDCC weekend like today’s reveals.
