Larian Studiosannounceda physical edition of Baldur’s Gate 3at the end of 2023 with a tenuous release date of early 2024. However, almost halfway through the year, many people are still waiting for their copies. The production process has faced several issues, partly because the game is so big that it needs to be spread across multiple discs. At the end of last week, Larian relayed that those of you waiting for the game onPS5in North America will have to wait a little bit longer.
Larian posted a statement on social media confirming there have been further problems with PS5 copies of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the US that have pushed its release into July.
Due to production changes outside of our control, we have had to follow certain processes specifically set by production companies when manufacturing the PS5 discs, and unfortunately, the approval for particular regions has taken much longer than expected… We expect all PS5 North America copies to be ready in around 14 days - followed by another 10 days to begin delivering these directly to players.
Larian added that it’s speaking with the production company responsible for creatingBaldur’s Gate 3’s physical editions in the hope that it might be able to hire temporary staff to help get the discs sorted faster. However, if you are in North America and waiting on a physical copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5, you’d be advised to expect the game to arrive with you in July at the earliest.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s Physical Edition Has Been Pushed To July On PS5
There is some good news. Larian confirmed in a reply to the post above thatXboxcopies of Baldur’s Gate 3 are now shipping. Only seems fair that Xbox owners get physical copies early when the digital release dropped on PS5 long before it arrived onSeries X. Physical copies are also shipping in Europe and Oceania. TheGamer’s very own Rhiannon Bevan received her PS5 copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 a few weeks ago, so those of you in Europe should get yours any day now if you’re still waiting.
