Summary

You don’t get Minthara as a companion until Act 2, and you can’t bring her back to the start of the game once she’s in your party. But this is theBaldur’s Gate 3community, of course they found a way.

Typically, you side with her and the goblins to wipe out the Grove (or knock her out), and then rescue her from Moonrise Towers. That means she can only become a party member in Act 2. If you try to go back to Act 1, she’ll tell you she has pressing business in the Shadowlands and refuses to follow.

The solution is surprisingly simple. Minthara can’t refuse to go with you if she can’t talk. All you have to do is cast Silence on her and fast travel back to Act 1. You can then sweep up the Aunty Ethel, Githyanki Creche, and Underdark quests with Minthara by your side. Basically, tell her to shut up.

What Happens If You Bring Minthara To Act 1?

Since you’re not supposed to have Minthara in Act 1, it’s a little buggy. According to Reddit user Important_End_2494, bringing her back to the beginning of the game forced the Guardian to re-appear and triggered the Lae’zel and Shadowheart fight again.

You also need to regularly re-cast Silence on her or she’ll keep refusing to go back to Act 1… even though she’s in it. So, while you canbring Minthara back to the start, it’s probably not worth the headache. Then again, she’s a pretty powerful ally. Maybe just forthe Aunty Ethel fight, eh?
