EvenNintendofilling the rest of 2024 and the start of 2025 with big releases hasn’t taken much attention away fromAstro Bot’s arrival on September 6. To help keep interest in Astro Bot piqued, PlayStation is giving everyone with aPS4or a PS5 some free Astro avatars. All you need to do is redeem the relevant code on the PlayStation Store.
The avatars have been released to celebrate players completing PlayStation’s Days of Play 2024 community challenges, one of which required players to collectively playAstro’s Playroommillions of hours combined. The prize for hitting that target was supposed to be a reward in PlayStation Stars. However, since PlayStation Stars has been down for weeks and still hasn’t been fixed, these Astro avatars have been given out as a makegood while Stars is being sorted.
As someone who doesn’t use Stars, but plans on playing a lot of Astro Bot as soon as it’s released, these avatars are a preferable prize to the digital collectible that was supposed to be handed out. As for what Astro is up to in the four avatars, the mascot is free-falling in one, riding an inner tube in another, dancing in the third, and covered in tiny enemies in the fourth. The code will unlock all four avatars so choose whichever best represents you, or if you can’t decide, switch between them as much as you like. The codes for different parts of the world can be found below (thanks,Wario64) and will be live until July 19, 2025.
How To Redeem Your Astro Bot Avatars
To redeem the code, you will need to head to the PS Store tab on your PS4 or PS5 and then scroll to the three dots that should be on the far right of the options at the top of the store page. That will open a menu on which a redeem code option should be near the top. Hit that, enter the code, and then click redeem. To equip any of the avatars, head back to your dashboard and click the small circle with your current avatar inside. Scroll across to the pencil symbol which will let you edit your profile, click the avatar option, and the new Astro Bot images should be there waiting for you.
Hopefully this will be the first of many things PlayStation does between now and September 6. We’ve already seen Astro take centerstage in London during Champion’s League final weekend, and now his free avatars are available to anyone with a PS4 or a PS5. Particularly smart as Astro Bot will be a PS5 exclusive so the millions who haven’t made the current-gen leap yet will be seeing Astro more often than they already do, potentially nudging them closer to picking up a PS5 so they embark on Astro’s biggest adventure yet with everyone else.
