Summary
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red finally has a proper name. As just revealed on theAssassin’s CreedTwitter page, this upcoming instalment is officially called Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and we’re about to see a whole lot more of it very soon.
The first proper cinematic trailer of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will go live this Wednesday at 9AM PT. This comes afterits reveal all the way back in 2022, with the only information we’ve had to go on since then coming from leaks and rumours.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Will Be Revealed This Week
One of the most notable leaks surrounding Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is that it willfeature a female protagonist. This was widely reported after an image was shared byUbisoftwriter Pierre Boudreau, featuring a female assassin. The image was quickly deleted, leading many to assume that Boudreau shared the image too early.
So far, this is the only image of a protagonist we’ve seen, so it’s possible there won’t be a male option as there were in the last couple of Assassin’s Creed games. We’ll likely find out for sure when the trailer debuts this Wednesday though, so we don’t have much longer to wait now.
Back when it was known as Codename Red, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was also revealed alongside another game, Codename Hexe. We know even less about this release, although it was reported thatit will be “more linear” than other gamesin the series.
It’s also very possible that the new trailer will give us a release date. As per Ubisoft’s latest financial report, we already know thatthe game will launch by March 2025. This isn’t too far away now, so if Ubisoft wants to hype it up before launch, it would make sense to give us a release date sooner rather than later. This also means that previous reports thatit will launch this yearare very much within the realm of possibilities.
For now, all we know for sure is that Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has this new name, and is set in Feudal Japan. We’ll likely get some story details in the trailer later this week.
