Summary

Among Usis getting an update today, adding three new roles into the mix. These new ways to play were just revealed at today’sNintendo Direct, shortly before the content shadow dropped for all players.

The update lets fans play as a Tracker, Noisemaker, or Phantom. We got a brief look at these roles in action in the trailer, showing us how we’ll have to navigate around the map and interact with other players in these roles.

New Player Roles Coming To Among Us Today

Shortly after the Direct came to a close, the Among Us devs rolled out the update. You should be able to install it now and try the roles out for yourself.

Announcing that the patch was live, we also got a better description of the roles. Trackers are supposed to “keep tabs” on everyone using the minimap, presumably in charge of making sure everyone is actually completing tasks, and figuring out who the imposed is. Noisemakers, as the name would suggest, make more noise when they die so nearby crewmembers are alerted. And finally, Phantoms are able to turn invisible, making it easier to escape after killing a crewmate.

Alongside the other roles that have been added in previous updates, Among Us players can now be:

Roles are assigned randomly at the start of each round, but anything other than crewmate and imposter has to be enabled in the lobby settings before you start.

It’s been a pretty big year for those of you still logging in to Among Us. At Summer Game Fest, wegot a trailer for the upcoming Among Us TV show, although we still don’t know when it will premiere. Wedoknow that it has an absolutely stacked cast, with Patton Oswalt, Dan Stevens, Elijah Wood, Liv Hewson, Randall Park, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ashley Johnson, Debra Wilson, Kimiko Glenn, Phil Lamarr, and Wayne Knight.
