Hades 2has you trudging through the underworld in an attempt to rescue your family from the clutches of Chronos, Titan of Time. Naturally, Melinoe has a number of powerful, legendary weapons at her disposal, each with their own advantages, disadvantages, and playstyles. Also naturally, they all must be unlocked individually.
Following on from the trend established in the previous game, there are also certain ‘aspects’ to unlock, which can modify your weapons and even be empowered themselves, giving you more options and better chances on your travels. A true Hades 2 enthusiast will want to unlock and upgrade them all.

Hades 2 is currently in Early Access. The information below is expected to change significantly as development progresses, and we’ll update this article as soon as possible when those changes occur.
Updated Jun 04, 2025:We’ve updated this guide to reflect the changes made by Early Access Patch 2. Some figures may be slightly incorrect, but the final figures for each weapon in the upgrades table are accurate.

How To Unlock Every Weapon
There are currently five weapons to unlock and play with in Hades 2. You begin with the Witch’s Staff by default, and can unlock the rest with certain recipes:
Witch’s Staff
Unlocked by default
A thrusting weapon with medium range. The easiest weapon to get on with.

Sister Blades
1 Silver
Precise weapons with very quick close-range attacks and a ranged but slow special.
Umbral Flames
3 Silver, 3 Cinder
Fire-emitting staves that are slow but keep you at a safe range, for the most part. Difficult to get used to.
Moonstone Axe
15 Silver
A heavy and slow but incredibly powerful melee weapon. Allows you to defend, and has a long-range special.
Argent Skull
2 Glassrock, 1 Bronze
Throwable skulls that are limited in ammo and must be picked up after being thrown. Powerful burst potential, but strategy needed.
While the first four weapons are all available from the start (to unlock, that is), theArgent Skull will only be selectable once you’ve progressed into the game a fair amount.
The items needed to unlock this weapon are found in thethird region of the underworld pathand thefirst region of the surface path.
How To Unlock Weapon Aspects
To begin with, your weapons will be pretty plain - only one flavour of them. Eventually, though, you will gain theincantation that allows you to unlock Weapon Aspects. These are ‘varieties’ of your weapons that change certain aspects, which may make them more suitable to your playstyle.
We aren’t sure what the requirements are for unlocking this incantation, butthe recipe is given to you by Hecate after defeating her in Erebus. It is likely that you must first unlock every weapon before she will grant you the recipe.
Once the recipe is unlocked, you can cast it at any point at the cauldron with five Bronze and one Nightshade. Upon completion, you can access your Aspects at the weapon circle in the Training Grounds.
All weapons initially begin withMelinoe’s Aspect, which is their default form. They also have multiple other aspects that can be unlocked using resources.
