The fourth week inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’sthird season has brought a new event for players to experience. Vortex: Vi.Rus Mainframe is the latest XP event in MW3, giving players a chance to earn XP boosters and exclusive cosmetics solely through playing MW3 matches.
By earning XP in any match—core Multiplayer, MWZ, or Warzone—you’ll progress an event reward track with unique rewards. Earn enough XP, and you’ll get an exclusive animated weapon camo. This short guide will explain what this event is, how long it’ll last, and cover all of the rewards you can expect to earn during Vortex: Vi.Rus Mainframe.
What Is Vortex: Vi.Rus Mainframe?
Vortex: Vi.Rus Mainframe is an XP event that runs from April 24 to May 8.This event has 13 exclusive rewards you can earn by simply playing MW3. All XP you earn will progress this event’s reward track, unlocking new cosmetics and XP boosters as you play. The more XP you earn throughout the event, the more rewards you’ll earn. Double XP tokens and similar boosters also count.
Featured Operator
Completing matches with the Bacillus (Ghost) skin will award a bonus 5,000 XP, which will make this event slightly easier to progress. The XP bonus is static, so fans of Warzone and MWZ won’t see much benefit from using an event skin.
The Bacillus skin is tied to the Horsemen: Vi.Rus Tracer Pack. It can be purchased for 2,400 CoD Points in the MW3 store.
Since this event tracks XP and not specific challenges,all players can participate.You can play core Multiplayer, MWZ, or Warzone to complete this event. If you earn a total of 548,500 XP by the end of the event, you’ll unlock an animated weapon camo called Binary Morality.

This event has13 unique rewardsyou can earn, all of which will passively unlock as you earn XP. As with most events, expect a handful of weapon decals, emblems, and XP boosters. The final reward from this event is theBinary Morality camo.It’s fully animated and can be applied to any weapon.
