Main Character

Starting with the character every player will have on their account, Rover is the main character of Wuthering Waves, and you canchoose between the male and the female Roverat the start. You won’t be able to change your Rover once you’ve started the game.

The main character comes with their unique skills and combat style, and you can use them just like any other character. You’ll initially have the Spectro-type damage on Rover, but you can progress the main story to unlock other types like the Havoc Rover after finishing Act VI of Huanglong’s story.

Wuthering Waves Jiyan Picture

Limited Five-Star Character

As with every other similar gacha game, Wuthering Waves also has various banners to pull on. One of these is the Event Character Convene banner where new five-star units are featured for a limited time. Jiyan was the first character featured on here, and he’s a great unit to have for starting players.

Jiyan can already deal a good amount of damage with his basic attacks, but he gets buffed when you use his Resonance Liberation, and all his attacks are then considered as Heavy Attacks. He’ll help you clear some of the AoE-based endgame content quite easily.

Wuthering Waves Yinlin Picture

15Yinlin

Similar to Jiyan, Yinlin is the second five-star limited character gracing the world of Wuthering Waves, and she was one of the most anticipated characters since launch. Yinlin has some beautiful animations both in and out of combat, and she’s hardly a character you’ll ever regret getting.

Yinlin is mainly an off-field DPS who can trigger multiple instances of Electro DMG on the enemies marked with her special effect. She can also buff an ally’s Resonance Liberation DMG, making her a phenomenal support too.

Wuthering Waves Calcharo Picture

Standard Five-Star Character

Apart from the limited character banner, another great way to acquire five-star units is by pulling on this game’s Standard banner whenever you get the respective currency. Calcharo isone of the five charactersfeatured on this banner during the launch.

If you don’t end up getting him on the Novice Banner, the game still has a couple of banners where you can simply choose him. Calcharo is great at dealing massive Electro DMG, but it can take some time to get used to his skills and attack sequences.

Wuthering Waves Jianxin Picture

13Jianxin

Jianxin is a fairly new face in the world of Wuthering Waves as she wasn’t featured during the first beta. However, she has quickly climbed the popularity list, becoming one of the most anticipated standard characters.

Much like Calcharo, you can either acquire her by picking her on the beginner banner or the early standard banner, or you can randomly get her at a later point. Jianxin has the ability to group enemies up while also providing a massive shield and some healing for her team.

Wuthering Waves Baizhi Picture

12Baizhi

Free Four Star Character

Baizhi is one of the most anticipated units among all the four-star characters in the game, and every player can get her quite early in the game. As you progress the main story, you’ll unlock the Convene system after a certain dialogue with Baizhi.

When you pull on the first gacha banner with your free Convene, you’re guaranteed to get Baizhi. She’s also one of the most valuable character for an early game account since she can heal the entire party while also providing some DMG buffs.

Wuthering Waves Yangyang Picture

Talking about getting freefour-star unitsin the game, Yangyang was confirmed to be the first playable character you’ll meet in Wuthering Waves even before launch, and also the first free character to join your party.

To get her, you simply have to progress the story past the Prologue, which is something you’ll have to do if you want to unlock even the basic mechanics. Yangyang is another great unit to group up enemies, and she can also help your characters in getting their Liberation back faster.

Wuthering Waves Sanhua Picture

10Sanhua

One of the best things about Wuthering Waves is the phenomenal character design even for four-star characters, which is proven when you look at Sanhua’s cold design and animations. Thankfully, she’s another free character that you can acquire simply by logging in a total of five days after launch.

Sanhua is a great sub-DPS who requires very little time on the field since you simply have to use her Intro Skill, Skill, and Liberation before using a Heavy Attack. This finishes her sequence of attacks and lets you switch to your main DPS.

Wuthering Waves Encore Picture

9Encore

Encore has been one of the few characters who are featured in almost every trailer released by the game, which already proves her importance in the main story and combat. If you’d like to have this character on your account, you’ll have to get her through the standard banner as well.

If you care about the meta, she’s one of the most valuable units to get from the Standard Banner since her high Fusion DMG helps you get past most of the content in the game. She’s one of the few characters in the game who deal damage with every single ability.

Wuthering Waves Event To Get Free Yuanwu

8Yuanwu

From a character that keeps appearing in the trailers to the one who’s hardly been revealed by the game, Yuanwu is yet another free four-star unit that you can acquire at any point. However, to get him, you’ll have to progress through the endgame mode called Tower of Adversity.

Yuanwu is one of the most underrated characters in the game as he’s the only one with the ability to accelerate the enemy’s white bar reduction. Of course, if you get used to the combat and dodging mechanics, you won’t need this too much.
