December in real life is full of holidays, and you’ll see them all celebrated at once inStardew Valleyas the Feast of the Winter Star. The event takes place on Winter 25 and sees the town come together as they always do for festivals, this time with a gift exchange included.
Find a gift your secret friend loves the most and bring it with you to the Feast of the Winter Star to help ensure your neighbors have the happiest holidays. In return, a neighbor will give you a gift, too, with one decorative item exclusive to this exchange.
Prior to the 1.6 update in March 2024, the Feast of the Winter Star ran from 9AM until 2PM. This waschanged in version 1.6, and the Feast of the Winter Star now begins at 10AM instead.

Check Your Mail And Give A Gift To A Pelican Town Resident
One of the traditions of the Feast of the Winter Star in Stardew Valley is toexchange gifts with the townsfolkduring the festivities, which take place onWinter 25 from 10AM until 2PM.
However, in Pelican Town, the custom is thatyou give a gift to one resident, and in turn, you’llget one from a different resident.
Lewis sends a letterto tell youwho your secret friend is, which you’ll receiveon Winter 18. This means you’ll have a full week to prepare andfind a gift that person lovesbefore the festival begins.
The gift you give isworth five times the friendship points with that residentas it would be normally, so take advantage and give them a gift they love!

On Winter 25,head into town anytime between 9AM and 2PMto enter the Feast of the Winter Star celebration taking place in Pelican Town. Here, you’ll find everyone gathered around festive tables, dressed in their new Winter outfits and spending time celebrating the season.
As always, Pierre has anevent-specific shop, located just past the entrance to town if you’re entering from the bus stop.

If you got Pierre as your secret friend for the gift exchange or you’d just like to say hello, you can still chat with Pierre directly by going around to the back of the shop table.
The Gift Exchange
Once you’ve done your socializing and shopping, there’s not much pomp and circumstance around you giving your gift to your secret friend. Togive your giftto the person you were given, simplyinteract with themwhen you find them in the town square, and you’ll be able tochoose an item from your inventoryto give them.
Because of this, you’ll need tobe sure you bring the gift with you to the festival, since going back to your farm will end the festival without you giving your secret friend anything, nor receiving a gift from your own secret friend.
In terms of you receiving your gift, though, it’s a bit more special.After you’ve given your gift to your secre tfriend, you’ll see a cutscene of your farmer by the Christmas tree in town. They’ll beapproached by the neighbor who got youas their secret friend (which seems to be entirely randomized), and they’ll open it on screen.
What you receive is decided by who got you for their secret friend. Most of the adult residents give you one14 potential gifts, while other characters have more specific ideas. Some items can only be obtained from certain characters during the Feast of the Winter Star.
There are five adult residents who give special gifts for the Feast of the Winter Star. Anyone not specially named will give a gift from the Adults pool of 14 potential items.
Also, unless otherwise stated, you’ll receive only one of the item named.

- Leo will only be an option for the Feast of the Winter Star if he lives in Pelican Town. If you haven’t met himon Ginger Islandyet, orhe still lives there, he won’t be present at the celebration,nor will he be consideredpart of the secret friend gift pool.
