If you’ve playedGenshin Impactfor a little while, you probably already know that weekly boss challenges are some of the hardest content to beat in the game. You only have to defeat three of these bosses every week, but it can take quite a long time for each one if you don’t get used to their mechanics.
This is especially true for the likes of All-Devouring Narwhal, agiant boss in Fontainethat doesn’t give you a lot of time to attack. Thankfully, there are a few simple mechanics that will help you beat it quite easily.

All-Devouring Narwhal Attack Pattern
Unlike most bosses in Genshin Impact you can simply attack as soon as you spawn on the battlefield,All-Devouring Narwhal doesn’t give you a lot of chances like this. This boss spawns in and out of the ground and the sky consistently, barely getting close enough for you to attack with melee characters for more than a few seconds.
In most of its attacks, the Narwhal will come out of the sky and drop to the ground, either going into it or floating back up. In both these cases, you’lltake damage if you don’t dodge when Narwhal touches the ground. In some attacks, it can also spawn out of the ground and then disappear in the sky.

Even if it might seem like the boss is close enough to attack sometimes, thedistance is usually more than you’d expect.
In a certain attack, the Narwhal spawns an orb on the field. This orb loses some of its white bar when you attack it normally, but it loses a lot more HP if it’s attacked with Pneuma and Ousia attacks. This phase mostly relies on you dodging most of the boss' attacks while dealing a bit of damage whenever you can.
Long-range orcharacters with turret-type damagewhere they canleave something on the field that automatically attacks the bossare perfect for dealing damage during this time.
How To Defeat All-Devouring Narwhal
This is one of the few fights where you can’t bypass the flow of it unless you have extremely strong characters. When you deal damage to the Narwhal in the initial phase, its rage meter gets built up. You cansee this meter at the top right below the HP, and once this is full, a special attack triggers, which takes you into another realm.
A new enemy spawns in this area and theHP for this enemy is displayed with a white bar below Narwhal’s HP. This bar, much like the orb that Narwhal spawns, takes damage whenever it’s attacked. However, the main source of damage to this is when the enemy transforms into another orb for a few seconds.
Once again, this orb can be attacked with any form of Pneuma or Ousia energy, and it instantly deals a massive blow to the white bar. Once this bar goes down completely, you’ll see the Narwhal taking a ton of damage, and it also pulls you back out to the actual fight where you find theNarwhal in a vulnerable state for a few seconds.
This is the best chance you’ll get to attack the boss, so you shouldsave everything you have until you get here.
Within these few seconds, you should be able toeasily defeat the boss and end the fight. However, if you can’t, the process will restart from the beginning. After you defeat the boss, you can spend 30 Resin to get the following exclusive materials:
These are the materials that you’ll need toupgrade various characters' talents past level six. Given the importance of Pneuma and Ousia energy in this fight, you’ll have the best chance of defeating this boss quickly if you use one of the characters hailing from Fontaine.
