Heading intoSummer Game Fest, we knewAlan Wake 2news was incoming. What most didn’t expect was exactly how much news we were going to get. The biggest announcement was the expected reveal of an expansion.Night Springs DLC which is available nowadds episodes starring three new characters. The other announcement was that Alan Wake 2 will be getting a physical edition. Controversially digital-only at launch, physical copies of the Alan Wake sequel will be here before the end of 2024, and there’s a very special Collector’s Edition among the options available.
There is no standard edition when it comes to physical copies of Alan Wake 2. If you want to own a physical copy of the sequel, you will need to choose between the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. If you’re one of the many who has been pining for a physical copy of Alan Wake 2 since the disappointing news that it wouldn’t be getting one at launch, odds are you’re okay with paying the extra for a Deluxe or Collector’s Edition, especially considering what you get with each of those editions.

The Deluxe Edition will include the Night Springs DLC that launched right after it was announced at Summer Game Fest. That means the physical version will be a complete version of the game, provided more DLC isn’t added which seems unlikely. It also includes the first Alan Wake game if you’re new to the series or you want to play from the very beginning of the Alan Wake saga through to the Night Springs DLC in one go. The series so far from start to finish, all in one game.

Alan Wake 2 is getting a physical release, and this Collector’s Edition is a part of that. Created alongside Limited Run Games, this edition includes everything that comes with the Deluxe equivalent as well as the physical items detailed below.

The biggest and best part of the Collector’s Edition is a replica Angel Lamp. The lamp actually works which means whenever you’re wandering through the house at night, whether it be to investigate a noise or grab a snack, you’re able to take the lamp with you and pretend to be Alan Wake. Also included is a 160-page book loaded with art from the sequel, a keychain from the fictional Oceanview Hotel, and a gorgeous collector’s edition box to keep it all in.
Limited Run Games is more than just a name. Even though physical copies of Alan Wake 2 won’t be released until October 22, the pre-order window for the Collector’s Edition is far smaller. It’s open now and will close for good at 11:59 pm EST on July 21. It’s also not estimated to ship until December, meaning you’ll have to wait a little longer than those who have ordered the Deluxe Edition.
In a world where a focus on physical video game releases is becoming less important in the eyes of certain studios, Limited Run continues to ensure games that would have otherwise been digital-only, and potentially lost to time in the distant future, have ways in which fans of them can buy and own something they can play and keep forever. Alan Wake 2’s Deluxe Edition will be released on June 27, 2025, and Limited Run’s Collector’s Editions are expected to ship in December. Both editions are available onPS5andXbox Series X|S.
FAQ
How Well Did Alan Wake 2 Sell?

Can I Play Alan Wake 2 Without Playing The First Game?
There’s an argument to be made that playing Alan Wake 2 without having played the first game results in an even more immersive experience as like Saga Anderson, you arrive in Bright Falls with very little knowledge of what went down there in the original game.
