Summary

WhenMicrosoftacquired Activision Blizzard in 2022, there was an increasing level of hope among gamers that some of Activision’s “dead” titles would get a second chance. Franchies like Singularity, Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk were all part of gamers' wishlists. But chief among those dreams was the return ofTransformers, particularlythe War for Cybertron trilogy that began all the way back in 2010. Now, it appears that those dreams will come true.

As first spotted on Twitter by a Transformers fan account, a slew of Transformers games have made their way to Xbox and PC via Steam. They’re not purchaseable at the moment, though they do have product pages after previously being delisted due to licensing concerns.

Of that group, Xbox has pages for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the sequel to War for Cybertron, as well as Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, an interstitial title that is connected to the movies. Over on Steam, there is a page for the original War for Cybertron.

Transformers games aren’t completely dead, as there’s an upcoming game titled Transformers: Reactivate, though it’s a 1-4 player online action game.

Beyond that, there is also a listing for Transformers: Devastation, PlatinumGames' action beat ‘em up title that also served as the final Transformers game. Check it out:

There Are Conflicting Reports About The Status Of Transformers Games

That said, don’t get your credit cards out just yet. That’s because there are some conflicting reports about Transformers games. Some users have reported that gamers have always been able to look up previous Transformers games on Xbox, while others have affirmed that they have never been able to, making it appear to potentially be a region-based issue. Meanwhile, some are in agreement that the Steam storefront page is the real nugget, as that has not been the case, apparently.

Either way, it’s an extremely intriguing development, especially considering that the games were delisted. Sure, it’s not impossible to find a copy of Rise of the Dark Spark as it was released across two different generations, but the original two games are in short supply. Meanwhile, Devastation had DLC that helped make a crummy title a bit less crummy.
