InStar Wars, the Jedi are tasked with being keepers of the peace. During the Clone Wars, they took the role of generals, which took them to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. This would eventually lead to many questionable morals, disenfranchisement with the Jedi Order, and even attempts at joining the new world order before the old one collapsed.

While many Jedi would turn during the Clone Wars, many would also turn in the distant past and after the fall of the Empire. The dark side is just too tempting under the right circumstances. These are ten Jedi who betrayed their beliefs and joined the dark side.

1Anakin Skywalker

The Chosen One Falls

Anakin Skywalker is one of the greatest examples of a Jedi turning to the dark side. Due to his admittance to the Jedi order at a much older age than normal, he had already formed attachments to his mother and later to Padme.

Anakin wished to protect his wife against the same fate that came over Qui Gon Jin and his mother. The Clone Wars also did not do much to quell his more aggressive side. Eventually, he was seduced by the dark side withthe promise of power capable of preventing death.

2Ben Solo

A Dark Lineage

The Skywalker family tree has a great affinity for temptation. While Luke would be capable of turning down the dark side, the same could not be said about his nephew, Ben Solo. Ben would be manipulated by supreme leader Snoke, but ultimately it was Luke Skywalker’s fear that would lead him to abandon the new Jedi Order.

Ben would then resurface as one of the Knights of Ren, Kylo Ren. He also suffered visions of Darth Vader guiding him, which were orchestrated by Palpatine, who had survived.

3Count Dooku

For The Greater Good

Count Dooku was the Jedi Master who trained Qui Gon Jin. While many Jedi can turn to the dark side for selfish reasons, Count Dooku did so for what he believed was the greater good. As a younger man, Dooku witnessed many injustices that led him to question the beliefs of the Jedi.

Seeking to make a change, he followed Palpatine towards a much darker path. This led him to become one of the leaders of the Separatist movement. He would also train General Grievous inthe ways of lightsaber combat.

5Barriss Offee

Disillusion In The Jedi Order

Bariss Offee was originally a Jedi Padawan. She was friends with Ahsoka and had a curious mind for ancient Jedi texts. Eventually, like many other Jedi who turned, she would become disillusioned with the Jedi Order.

She believed the war had changed them and plotted many treasonous acts, such as a bombing of the Jedi Temple. After failing to frame Ahsoka for her crimes, she would be imprisoned until Order 66 wiped out the Jedi. She would then be released in an attempt to train her as an inquisitor.

One of the Old Republic’smost infamous dark sidersis none other than Revan. Originally sent to the outer rim along with Malek to figure out the origins of the Mandalorian war, they discovered something far more sinister. They found the Sith Empire along with the Sith Emperor.

They would then spend time getting closer to the Emperor in an attempt to assassinate him. However, getting too close came with its own consequences, as both would soon find themselves turned toward the dark side and becoming his pawns.

7The Grand Inquisitor

From Guard To Inquisitor

The Grand Inquisitor was once a temple guard on Coruscant. During the framing of Ahsoka Tano by Barriss Offee, he would come to lose faith in the Jedi Order. This incident made him susceptible to the influence of the dark side.

While he would survive Order 66, his involvement with the Jedi would not be over. Recruited by Palpatine himself, he would be assigned a new role as the Grand Inquisitor. He would then be tasked with hunting down and eliminating the Jedi he previously swore to protect.

When Junda was captured, she was tortured for information on the location of Trilla and the younglings. Junda would break and betray Trilla, which led to her capture. The betrayal and torture from the Empire would darken Trilla’s heart.

9Pong Krell

Embraced The New World Order

Pong Krell was a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars. One of his more unique features was his ability to fight with two double-bladed lightsabers. His regime as a general was questionable, with a high casualty rate among his troops.

Pong Krell would attempt to turn to the dark side after sensing the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of something darker replacing the Republic. He wished to join Count Dooku in the new world order, but before any of that could take place, the clone, Dogma, would execute him for his heinous acts.

This led him to ally himself with Cal Kestis and the Mantis crew. Despite getting closer to Cal and considering him a friend, Akuna betrays him, which leads to many deaths, including those of Master Cordova and Cere. After a long duel with Cal, it became apparent that he would be willing to go as far as necessary if it meant saving his daughter.
