In some cases, these beings will provide some weaponry to help you deal with enemies. Other times, their friendliness only extends to a certain few. Regardless, the characters have some form of charisma that you wouldn’t expect from someone or something found in the horror genre. Here are ten horror game characters who are friendlier than they look.
The Merchant in Resident Evil 4 shrouds himself in a dark cloak and a purple mask.His true identityis only hinted at, but to you, he is a valuable ally. He will sell you valuable goods if you have the coin.
He is also willing to pay for treasures that you find around the world to assist you. Unlike other shadier merchants in gaming, he will ask you twice before you sell a valuable item that could be worth more if combined with other treasures. Finally, a trustworthy salesman.
The first time you encounter Jack Baker, he knocks you out and drags you into his family home. There he force-feeds you one of the most disgusting meals in gaming. Once you escape, he will chase you around the house and try to subdue you.
Jack Baker will appear multiple times throughout the game. However, deep inside, he is an innocent man who truly cares for his family. While Ethan dreams, the true Jack Baker makes contact, apologizing and begging Ethan to help him. He even shows sympathy for Eveline.
The Metro series isbased on the Russian novelof the same name. You play as Artyom who lives in the Russian section of a post-nuclear Metro system. Surrounded by many dangers, the worst is seemingly a series of monsters that can corrupt the mind through their presence.
Artyom suffers from many pre-war hallucinations caused by the Dark Ones. However, in reality, the hallucinations are the Dark One’s failed attempts at communicating that they mean no harm. In Metro Last Light, Artyom escorts the last Dark One to safety.

There is a zombie outbreak in the retro-futuristic city of Punchbowl. This outbreak is led by Stubbs the Zombie, a deceased salesman. Despite being undead, Stubbs is friendlier than the average zombie as long as you’re on his side.
He’s a great leader who only wants to reclaim the city for his own kind and even gets a happy ending after getting rid of those who want him buried. He even has enough compassion to have a functioning relationship at the end of the story.
Five Nights at Freddy’s hasplenty of horrible animatronicsthat will stuff you into a suit or worse if given the chance. However, there are a few who are secretly benign. One example is the Marionette from the second entry in the series.
Possessed by the soul of Afton’s first victim, the Marionette is the reason the souls of the children managed to linger within the animatronics. The Marionette is one of the most sentient souls, being able to recall moments from their past life as a child.
If you saw a ghost dog walking around a hotel, odds are you would turn the other way screaming. However, some ghosts are much friendlier than they initially appear. Polterpup is a ghost dog first introduced in Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon.
While many ghosts are hostile towards Luigi, Polterpup is often more mischievous than aggressive. By the end of the second game, Luigi adopts Polterpup and the two live happily ever after. Polterpup appears once again inLuigi’s Mansion 3as an ally.
The world of Inscryption is based off of trading cards and programming, though initially, it seems a bit more supernatural. When first starting the game, you are greeted by an entity known as Leshy who acts as a dealer. If your candles go out, he will trap your essence inside a card.
Despite his sinister behavior and terrifying appearance, Leshy is actually the least destructive of the four Scrybes, powerful entities that seek to upload themselves to the internet. Leshy’s goals simply entail playing the game and providing a challenge.

From the big screen to the small screen, the Killer Klowns may murder you, but they will do it in a creative way that might even make you laugh. This alone makes them friendlier than the average horror game monster who will force you to die kicking, screaming, and afraid.
This is not that bad of a way to go. If only other horror monsters went out of their way to amuse you before trapping you. When you’re a protagonist in a horror story, sometimes that’s the best you can hope for.
The undersea city of Rapture is one of the most hostile places in theBioshockcanon. Riddled with adam-hungry Splicers and leftover revolutionaries, you’re able to’t go five feet without getting shot at. Worst of all are the Big Daddies, mutated humans in heavy diving gear.
Big Daddies are highly aggressive to those who come after their little sisters. However, they are also capable of some level of kindness, treating the children as one of their own. They can be gentle and even friendly to the twisted little girls.
When Dracula rises, a Belmont will always rise up to meet the challenge. This included terrifying ghouls, floating skulls, and other monsters under his command. However, there is one being that is said to match Dracula’s strength. This is Alucard, son of Dracula.
However, while he may sound terrifying, Alucard is actually friendly enough to join the group even if he doesn’t always act like it. This is due to his mother’s influence and her kindness towards the same humans who burned her as a witch.
